04/15/2017 - “He is Risen!”
.
He is not here; he has risen, just as he said" Matt 28:6.
Last week I started to write about the difference between a secular celebration of Easter and the real, biblical celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The words spoken by the angel to the women who came to the tomb on the first day of the week is the same message for us today, “Rejoice!” Matt 28:9 (NKJV). This Sabbath I will continue to invite you to look closely at this event, which gives power to our testimony about Jesus, who makes sense and provides the strongest proof that everlasting life, promised by Jesus, is not a fairy tale.  This event provides the strongest proof that everlasting life is a reality and the Plan of Salvation will end one day. The apostle Paul says that our faith means nothing without the truth of Jesus’ resurrection, “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is useless; you are still in your sins” 1 Cor 15:17.
One of the most loved and popular songs we sing these days is, “He lives!” Do you know the story of this song? Here it is: One Sunday morning a pastor was dressing for church and had the radio on listening to a local church service. Suddenly, he heard the minister say, "It’s Easter, and it doesn’t make any difference if Christ be risen or not..." Shocked, A.H. Ackley shouted, "It’s a lie! He is risen!" His wife said, "Why don’t you write a song about it?" Reading in the gospels again "He is risen," and feeling God’s presence, he began writing. His words have been sung in churches every Easter since: "I serve a risen Savior, He’s in the world today, I know that He is living, whatever men may say...He Lives!" Our preaching about an empty tomb, about a “risen Savior who is in the world today,” is not an empty message; it is the foundation of our faith, our joy and our hope.  We hope that one day this Jesus, who was put on the cross and resurrected the third day according to the prophecy, will come again to bring us salvation. Regardless of the false story of the Roman soldiers who said that Jesus didn’t resurrect, but His body was stolen by His disciples, regardless of other false stories created through the ages that someone else died in His place because Jesus was taken to heaven before His crucifixion, or regardless of stories that Jesus was not dead when He was put in the tomb, we still believe with all our hearts that Jesus died for our sins and that He resurrected, and now He is alive for our salvation. Nobody and nothing can stop this message of a risen Savior. It is still burning in our hearts, and it is still our hope. Make the risen Savior the message of hope and joy for all those who are waiting for a better life.
